Moreover, since it has certain limitations as opposed to closed cell foam, it can be used only for certain specific purposes like less airtight seals or preservation of moisture and so on.       Not for extremes of temperature-R-value of open cell polyurethane spray foam is lower in the 3.6 to 3.8 per inch range. Hence, heat resistance level is a bit lower making it suitable only for partial heat insulation. Therefore, it is not very advisable to use this kind of insulation in extremes of temperatures.

    2. Not for preventing water entry-You must take care of the fact that open cell foam insulation is not water-resistant and it cannot provide proper support to the walls prone to water-exposure.
    3. Permeability-Open cell foam insulation is little permeable to vapour and air as well as lower noise frequency ranges.
    4. Beware of using outside-Because of its above mentioned properties, this is however more suitable for interior than exterior insulation.
